Further education unit

In accordance with its legal duties, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam offers further education programmes in addition to its undergraduate programmes. Continuing education is a relevant component of lifelong learning and is part of the permanent educational offer of our application and research-oriented university.
With this in mind, we offer participants from different professional and age groups a variety of opportunities to expand their qualification profile and competencies in a targeted manner. The further education unit at the University of Applied Sciences  Potsdam (ZEW) is a non-profit commercial enterprise under tax law. Its structure is based on the principle of professional decentralisation and organisational-logistical centralisation: The professional design of and responsibility for continuing education programmes lies explicitly with the departments, degree programmes and lecturers of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, while the ZEW, as a service institution of the university, coordinates services centrally and provides them "from a single source", namely for the development, marketing, implementation and administration of continuing education projects.

In accordance with the ZEW statutes, the departments each form the directorate of the ZEW with one representative and are thus responsibly involved in the design, development, profiling and strategic control of continuing education. This form of institutionalisation establishes a continuous interdisciplinary working and decision-making process for the area of continuing education. The directorate is the interdisciplinary steering committee of the ZEW. Its self-image includes promoting communication between the departments/programmes/teachers and the ZEW and encouraging and supporting corresponding networking and cooperation with external partners. The directors act internally and externally as supporters and multipliers for continuing education. The members of the directorate are appointed by the president on the recommendation of the senate for a maximum period of 4 years. Reappointment is possible.

Members of the directorate are:
