Recognition of Study and Examination Achievements

If you have already completed achievements at other universities or in other degree programmes, you can apply for recognition of these achievements.

Your achievements will be recognised at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, provided that no significant differences between the competences already acquired and those to be acquired within the framework of the module at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam can be identified.

The basis for recognition is the lisbon convention, the Brandenburg university act and § 24 of the framework regulations for studies and examinations at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.

Application

The application for recognition must be completed in full and signed and submitted to the examination service by e-mail.

The application for recognition can only take place after enrolment at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. We recommend submitting the application for recognition directly at the beginning of your studies. The final decision on recognition is made by the examination board after completion of the examination.

For the recognition of study and examination achievements, you have to go through the following steps:

Are there modules in your degree programme that have a high degree of congruence with the coursework and examinations you have already completed? Use the module handbook of your degree programme for this. You can find it on the respective website of your degree programme.

Please note: If you have already started the examination procedure in a module or have definitively failed an examination, recognition for this module is no longer possible.

It is advisable to take advantage of a subject counselling service before submitting your application. There you will be supported in the selection of suitable modules and the application. If you already know for which modules you would like to apply for recognition, you can also contact the person responsible for the module. You can find the information in the module handbook.

Complete the application form in full. On page 2, enter which study and examination achievements you have already completed and which modules in your degree programme these could correspond to. Recognition usually takes place on a module-by-module basis.

You can download the application form from the MyCampus homepage under "Information from the study and examination service" and send it to the functional address pruefungs-service@fh-potsdam.de.

Attach evidence of all achievements (final certificates, transcripts, lists of subjects and grades, transcripts, module descriptions, etc.) to the application.
The burden of proof for non-recognition of your achievements lies with the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.

As a student, however, you have a duty to cooperate. This means that you have to provide all necessary information that is required for a doubtless examination of your application. Otherwise, the university can stop processing your application prematurely and refuse recognition due to a lack of information.

The application is first checked for formal correctness and completeness at the examination service. Subsequently, the content is evaluated and a decision is made by the examination board of the relevant department or by the study commission of the relevant degree programme.

You will receive a written notification of the recognition decision.

Study and examination achievements obtained and recognised outside the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam are marked on the degree certificate.

Notes

Recognition when changing degree programmes and universities

If you would like to continue your studies in another degree programme or transfer to the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, you have the chance to enter a higher semester by applying for recognition of credits already earned.

For this, at least 30 ECTS credit points must be recognised in your target degree programme. In addition, the corresponding capacities for the higher subject semester must be released for degree programmes with restricted admissions. In this case, apply for recognition when you apply for a place on our university portal MyCampus.

Please note the deadlines: 15th of january for the summer semester and 15th of july for the winter semester!

Recognition of Flex modules

In all degree programmes at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, you can choose courses and modules of your own choice within and outside the range of courses offered at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.

If you have completed courses at other universities or in other degree programmes, apply for recognition and have them recognised for the flex area of your degree programme.

Initial counselling & contact

Make an appointment with the Student Counselling Service for an initial consultation on the recognition of academic achievements. If you have any questions regarding the assessment of the content of your achievements, please contact the person responsible for the module or the subject counselling service of your department or department/degree programme.
