The FHP Scholarship - inspiring, practical, close

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam awards Germany Scholarships as part of the national scholarship programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Due to the special nature of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and its students, the funding is known here as the FHP Scholarship. Together with sponsors and donors, the FHP Scholarship supports particularly committed, motivated students and encourages them to develop their talents and potential and prepare for their professorial recruitment.

The FHP Scholarship

The FHP Scholarship is a scholarship for gifted and talented students in accordance with the National Scholarship Act and supports the best students in their year with 300 euros per month. Performance, talent and special commitment take centre stage: good grades and academic achievements count just as much as the willingness to take on responsibility or successfully overcoming obstacles in one's own life and educational path.

The grant is paid independently of income and parents, as well as in addition to BAföG benefits, is granted for at least two semesters and at most until the end of the standard period of study and does not have to be repaid. The FHP scholarship is funded in equal parts by private donors and committed companies and by the federal government: 150 euros come from the private sector and 150 euros from the public sector.

The University President decides on the funding based on the proposals of the selection committees of the individual departments.

Mentoring and career guidance

The accompanying programmes offered by 360° ZUKUNFT support grant recipients in identifying their career goals. Not only are hard and soft skills in demand in the world of work trained, but additional ECTS credit points and individual coaching also provide the necessary drive for studying and starting a career.

The Work@Heart career entry programme offers specially designed advice and qualification measures to make it easier to start a career. In addition to workshops on topics such as job applications, time management and stress management, individual issues can also be addressed by coaches and mentors.

The Job Upgrade workshops and offers are an interdisciplinary additional qualification alongside the study content of the departments. The certificate is a proof of knowledge recognised by companies.

Participants can obtain certificates in one or each of the four specialisations and receive 3 ECTS credit points for each certificate:

  • Perspectives on sustainability
  • Digital world of work
  • Intercultural competences
  • Diversity and self-care

care4career teaches the basics for a holistic, personalised and therefore promising approach to career choices right from the start: Those who know themselves well, their strengths, potential and values, are more likely to find themselves in a professional field that they find fulfilling.

It is made up of 3 building blocks:

  • Growth Journey
  • Career Coaching
  • workshops

care4career can be started at any time. By completing the programme, participants receive 2 ECTS credits and a meaningful certificate.

In addition to the courses offered in their own degree programme, students can also take interdisciplinary FLEX elective courses. With the FLEX courses at the Entrepreneurship School, students can acquire valuable theoretical and practical knowledge for their future careers and collect ECTS credits (5 to max. 10 per course). This includes, for example, a solid basic knowledge of business administration, knowledge of innovation and project management or presentation skills.

The start-up counselling service offers support with start-up projects, promoting ideas and applying for funding when setting up a business. The service is supplemented by external consultants who offer assistance with financing, legal issues and marketing for self-employment.

If you are interested in self-employment, you can apply for start-up scholarships such as EXIST-Women or the EXIST-Gründungsstipendium in addition to the FHP scholarship.

In addition to the annual kick-off event First-Step-Connect and the ceremonial awarding of the grants in the winter semester, a LinkedIn group is available to grant recipients and graduates for information on events and for networking.

Contact with the sponsor

Your sponsor may wish to get to know you in order to invite you to events or perhaps offer you an internship. However, this contact is only possible if you agree to disclose your data to the sponsor. This is completely voluntary.

Contact with other grant recipients and nominees (successors)

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam would like to promote contact between grant recipients and nominees (successors) and network them with each other. However, this contact is only possible if you consent to the disclosure of your data to the other grant recipients and nominees (successors). This is completely voluntary.

All natural or legal persons who provide private funds - for example companies, foundations, associations or private individuals - can endow an FHP scholarship.

If the requirements of the Scholarship Programme Act are met, a private grant of 150 euros is subsidised by the federal government. This results in a monthly scholarship of 300 euros. The private grant can also exceed 150 euros, which means that a higher scholarship can be paid out. However, the maximum state grant is 150 euros.

Further information on the Deutschlandstipendium can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
