Start of studies winter semester 2025/26

Would you like to know when and where it starts?

On 01/10/2025 you can get to know the university and its various departments at the central matriculation ceremony in the morning. You can find detailed information here: Central matriculation ceremony.

Our department continues on 6th of October at 9.30 am, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ellen Euler, and the Student Council (StuRa) will welcome you in the small lecture hall of the main building. Our introductory events will then begin. All first-year students and newly enrolled students will receive important information for their further studies on this day.
It is not necessary to register for the introductory week events.

You can find the program of the introductory week here or below in the download area as a PDF. However, please check shortly before the start of your studies to see if any changes have been made;

In addition, the StuRa FB5 provides the programme of the introductory week as a calendar file so that you can find all dates directly in your calendar!

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Missed the Introductory week? Here is an overview of the most important things!

Welcome to the Department of Information Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences! This overview is intended to provide you with initial information and make it easier for you to get started.

Campus.Account

Your Campus.Account is your access to the digital services of UAS Potsdam. It will be assigned to you after enrollment and is essential for all administrative tasks that you need to complete online (e-mail, WLAN, VPN, Moodle, MyCampus).

You will receive the access data by post together with the Campus.card; you may be asked to collect both from the main building of the UAS Potsdam (location: Student Information Service, main building (HG)/room 014).

The account must be activated as soon as possible! You can find more information on activation and use here.

Campus.Karte

The Campus.Card serves as your student ID, library card, access key to the buildings and means of payment in the canteen. You will receive the card together with your Campus.Account access data by post; you may be asked to collect both from the main building of UAS Potsdam (location: Student Information Service, main building (HG)/room 014).

The card must be validated before the first use and in each subsequent semester in order for it to work. You can find out more about use and validation here.

Access to IT services

Use the Campus.Account to access the various IT applications, including e-mail, WLAN, VPN and MyCampus. You can find out how to register and set up your account here.

E-mail and mailing list

Set up your e-mail inbox with the Campus.Account and check it regularly, at least once a day. You can find more details here. Be sure to use the FHP e-mail address when contacting us (and not your private e-mail address).

What is Moodle?

Moodle is the central learning platform of the UAS Potsdam, on which course materials can be provided and assignments can be submitted. Each course is accompanied by a Moodle course.

Access to the courses

Log in with your campus account and join the relevant courses here. You can find a course overview using the navigation in Moodle: All courses > FB 5 Informationswissenschaften > Bachelor Direktstudium – NEU – ab WS23 > WS25 or by using the course search.

Each course is secured by an access key. You will receive it from the lecturer at the first course.

Registration procedure

You can register for exams via the MyCampus portal. You will receive a message from the Dean's Office via your year's e-mail distribution list with the registration and cancellation deadlines as well as the exam dates. The dates are also published on our website for the organisation of studies at the Department of Information Sciences.

Make sure that you register within the prescribed registration periods. You can find a quick guide here.

TAN list

You will receive an initial TAN list for the use of MyCampus during the introductory week. Please create a new TAN list as soon as you receive this list, as the initial TAN list is only intended for temporary use. To do this, call up the "iTAN generation" item in the MyCampus portal under "My functions". Always keep your valid TAN list safe from unauthorised access.

Hints

You already have a Campus.Account and the Campus.Card, but were unable to take part in the introductory week?

  • You can collect the TAN list from the Dean's Office.

You have not yet received your Campus.Account nor Campus.Card and were unable to take part in the introductory week?

Timetable

You will receive your individual timetable by e-mail via the year's e-mail distribution list. You can also access it here on the website.

Workshops

Six different workshop seminars are offered in the 1st semester, one of which must be chosen on Tuesday, the 7th of October 2025.

In case you were unable to attend this event, you have received information by email from the coordinator of the first semester workshops, Prof Dr Günther Neher. A separate course room has been set up in the e-learning platform Moodle for the workshop selection: Here you can read about the workshop topics and which workshops have available spaces. You will receive the course key in the information email from Prof Neher.

Our organisation chart provides an overview of all contact persons. Further information can be found on the website of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and on the website of the Department of Information Sciences.

Additional offer: Open consultation hours with the degree programme coordinator Christiane Strauß on Wednesday, the 15th of October 2025 between 2.00pm and 3.00 pm in House 2/Room 1.18.
