How to find us

Below you will find detailed directions for travelling by public transport.

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is located in the north of Potsdam between Kiepenheuerallee and Pappelallee in Bornstedter Feld(route planning with Google Maps).

The campus extends in the shape of a rectangle and is surrounded on three sides by public roads. The short sides of the rectangle are bordered to the south by Jakob-von-Gundling-Straße, to the north by Kiepenheuerallee and to the east, on the long side of the rectangle, by Georg-Herrmann-Allee.

Travelling by tram from Potsdam main station

From Potsdam main station, take tram 92 in the direction of Kirschallee and tram 96 in the direction of Campus Jungfernsee.

  1. From Potsdam main station, take tram 92 or 96 from platform 2, which is located directly at the southern main exit of the station.
  2. From the main exit, walk about 40 metres to the right.
  3. Travel 10 stops to the stop "Campus Fachhochschule". The stop is located in the centre between two lanes.
  4. Get off and walk in the direction of travel to the pedestrian lights. The traffic lights are equipped with a request button and acoustic signals.
  5. Now turn left and cross the railway tracks and then the road. There is also a pedestrian traffic light for the road.
  6. Turn left and walk straight ahead for about 50 metres. You will pass the brick façade of the laboratory and workshop building (LW) and the glass façade of building D.
  7. On your right, a square opens up between House D and the main building (HG). This is where the campus begins, and the main route across the campus starts from here.

Travelling by bus

You can reach the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam by bus 612, 692, 697 and N17, bus stop "Campus Fachhochschule".

Bus routes 612 and 692

The bus stop "Campus Fachhochschule" of the bus lines 612 and 692 is located in Kiepenheuerallee on the opposite side of the street of the campus behind the tram stop.

  1. After getting off the bus, walk straight ahead in the direction of travel for about 35 metres until you reach the pedestrian traffic lights.
  2. At the traffic lights, turn left to cross the carriageway and the central tracks. The traffic lights are equipped with a request button and acoustic signals.
  3. Turn left and walk straight ahead for about 50 metres. You will pass the brick façade of the laboratory and workshop building (LW) and the glass façade of building D.
  4. On your right, a square opens up between House D and the main building (HG). This is where the campus begins, and the main route across the campus starts from this point.

Bus route 697 and N17

The bus stop "Campus Fachhochschule" of the bus line 697 is located in Georg-Herrmann-Allee at the back of the laboratory and workshop building (LW).

  1. Leave the bus, walk straight ahead in the direction of travel for about 25 metres and then turn right. You are now in Kiepenheuerallee on the short side of the laboratory and workshop building (LW).
  2. Walk straight ahead for about 60 metres. You will pass the brick façade of the Laboratory and Workshop Building (LW) and the glass façade of Building D.
  3. On your right, a square opens up between House D and the main building (HG). This is where the campus begins, and the main route across the campus starts from here.

Directions by car

FH Potsdam car park

The campus is located at Kiepenheuerallee 5.

  1. To reach the car park for visitors to the FHP, you have to pass retractable bollards.
  2. Once you have reached the bollards, you will find a pillar on the left-hand side which you can use to contact the information desk.
  3. The floor bollards can be opened by the information desk. Information staff can give you access to the car park.
  4. Alternatively, the floor bollards can be opened using the Campus.card.

Disabled parking spaces

There are parking spaces on campus for visitors with an EU parking card for people with disabilities. These are spread across the campus.

Two parking spaces are located directly on the main car park. One car park is located between Houses 2 and 3 and two further car parks are available on the south side of the campus by House 5. They can be reached via Eduard-Engel-Straße.

You will receive detailed information from the information desk when you reach the campus.

Orientation on the campus

Below you will find detailed descriptions and information on how to find your way around the campus.

The campus is open to the public for pedestrians and cyclists. There are footpaths and traffic areas on the campus itself that can be used by pedestrians. The footpaths and traffic areas are also occasionally used by delivery traffic. Public motorised traffic is only permitted in the area of the access road to the FH Potsdam car park.

Access and routes

The campus is criss-crossed by three central, parallel paths. Two of these paths start in the open space between House D and the main building (HG):

  • The left-hand of these two paths, the central access path, also extends southwards along the campus. It begins between the main building (HG) and House D and ends at Jakob-von-Gundling-Straße. The entrance to the main building (HG) and the entrance to the cafeteria can be reached from here.
  • The right-hand of the two paths stretches southwards along the campus, passing the entrances to House D, LW, House A and House 2 and ending at Jakob-von-Gundling-Straße.
  • There is also a paved area that begins at the entrance to the FH car park and ends in front of House 3. This area can be used by both pedestrians and delivery traffic and extends in a north-south direction.
  • There is also a footpath at the end of these three paths, which opens up the campus from Georg-Hermann-Allee in a west-east direction, passing houses 1, 2, 3 and 4 and ending behind house 5.

Other facilities on the campus

In addition to the buildings mentioned above, there are other services and facilities on campus:

  • The campus garden is located in the centre of the campus.
  • There is a pavilion for smokers in front of House 3.
  • There is also a bike hire station (Next Bike) in front of House 3.
  • There are several picnic areas on campus as well as playgrounds.
  • There is a snack vending machine in the laboratory and workshop building (LW).
  • There is a bicycle repair station in front of the main building (HG).
  • In addition to the car parking spaces, there are two charging stations for electric vehicles on campus.

Building

There are a total of eleven buildings on the campus, which are divided into old and new buildings.

Buildings on the campus

Below you will find a detailed list of the buildings on campus. The buildings are explained in the order in which they follow the central campus path.

Main building (HG)

The main building (HG) houses the information centre of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.

The information desk is open 24/7 and is the central point of contact for all questions relating to the campus or the university.

You will find the information centre on the ground floor of the main building (HG).

You will also find in the main building (HG):

  • Small lecture theatre (HG/Room 067) and large lecture theatre (HG/Room 108)

Access main building (HG)

  1. To reach the main entrance of the main building (HG), walk straight ahead for approx. 35 metres from the start of the central main path.
  2. Turn left, the main entrance is now in front of you.
  3. Walk straight ahead for approx. 15 metres to reach the main entrance to the main building (HG).
  4. At this point there is a pillar on the right-hand side, approx. 1.70 metres high.
  5. At a height of approx. 85 centimetres there is a door opener that opens the entrance door to the main building.
  6. The door opens towards the visitors and has a stop on the right-hand side.
  7. This is followed by two doors one behind the other, both of which open simultaneously.
  8. A sensor prevents both doors from closing when the visitor is in the closing area.
  9. There is also a bell in this pillar, which you can use to contact the information desk.

Library

The library is located in the main building (HG) on the right-hand side on the ground floor.

The current opening hours of the library can be found on the website.

Access to the library

  1. To reach the library entrance, walk straight ahead for 10 metres after entering the foyer of the main building (HG).
  2. Now turn right and walk straight ahead for another 15 metres.
  3. You will now reach the entrance to the library. The door does not open automatically and in the direction of the visitor.

Canteen

The current opening hours and the menu can be found on the website.

Access to the canteen

  1. After entering the main building (HG), walk straight ahead for 20 metres.
  2. Turn right and walk straight ahead for 4 metres.
  3. You will now find the canteen door opener.
  4. Turn left and walk straight ahead for 2 metres.
  5. Now turn right and walk straight ahead through the canteen door.
  6. You are now in the canteen.

Coffee Nerds" cafeteria

The cafeteria "Coffee Nerds" can be reached from the foyer of the main building (HG).

Access to the cafeteria

  1. Turn right after entering the main building (HG).
  2. Walk straight ahead for 15 metres.
  3. There are two double doors in front of you that do not open automatically.
  4. Once you have passed through these doors, you will find yourself in the cafeteria.

Access to the cafeteria from outside

  1. There is another entrance to the cafeteria on campus.
  2. Follow the central main path.
  3. Walk straight ahead for 46 metres.
  4. Turn left.
  5. After 3 metres you will see a pillar with an automatic door opening on your right.
  6. After a further 2 metres you will find the entrance to the cafeteria.
  7. The door opens automatically outwards towards the visitor.

House D

House D houses the Department of Design, the Central Student Advisory Service and the International Office.

Access House D

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for approx. 20 metres.
  2. Turn right and walk straight ahead for approx. 15 metres.
  3. You will then reach the entrance to House D.
  4. The entrance consists of two consecutive double sliding doors that open automatically as you approach.

House A

In House A you will find the CITY | BUILDING | CULTURE department.

Access House A

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for approx. 25 metres.
  2. You will pass House D.
  3. Turn right and walk straight ahead for approx. 10 metres.
  4. Turn left and walk straight ahead for approx. 20 metres.
  5. Turn right.
  6. You will reach the entrance to House A after approx. 5 metres.
  7. The entrance consists of a double sliding door that opens automatically as you approach.

In the laboratory and workshop building (LW) you will find workshops and laboratories of various faculties as well as the lecture theatre (LW/Room 201)

Access to the laboratory and workshop building (LW)

The building has entrances from Georg-Herrmann-Allee that are not accessible to external visitors.

Access to the building via the campus is via Building A and Building D, as well as via two separate entrances via the campus.

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for approx. 25 metres.
  2. Turn right and walk straight ahead for approx. 40 metres.
  3. You will then reach the entrance to the laboratory and workshop building (LW).
  4. This entrance has a manual door opening.
  5. Another entrance to the laboratory and workshop building is located further along the central main path.
  6. Continue straight ahead for approx. 60 metres.
  7. Turn right and continue straight ahead for approx. 50 metres.
  8. You will then reach the entrance to the laboratory and workshop building (LW).
  9. This entrance also has a manual door opening.

House 1

In House 1 you will find the Department of Civil Engineering.

You will also find in House 1:

Access House 1

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for 190 metres.
  2. You will pass House D, House A and the laboratory and workshop building (LW) on your right.
  3. On your left is the main building (HG) with the cafeteria.
  4. After 53 metres you will pass a pair of bollards, after a further 129 metres a second pair. The first junction is 8 metres after the last pair of bollards.
  5. Turn right and continue straight ahead for 47 metres.
  6. Now turn left and continue straight ahead for 29 metres.
  7. Turn right.
  8. You will reach the entrance to House 1.
  9. The door opens manually.

House 2

In House 2 you will find the Department of Information Sciences.

Access House 2

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for 190 metres.
  2. You will pass House D, House A and the laboratory and workshop building (LW) on your right.
  3. On your left is the main building (HG) with the cafeteria.
  4. After 53 metres you will pass a pair of bollards, after another 129m a second one. The first junction is 8 metres after the last pair of bollards.
  5. Turn right and walk straight ahead for 11 metres
  6. Now turn left.
  7. The entrance to house 2 is now in front of you.
  8. Walk straight ahead for 19 metres and then turn right.
  9. After 3 metres, you will see a tactile guide on the floor.
  10. The door opener is located on the right-hand side in a pillar about one metre away.
  11. The door opener, which opens the entrance door to House 2, is located at a height of approx. 85 centimetres.
  12. The door opens towards the visitor and has a stop on the left-hand side.
  13. A lift is available in House 2. Once you have passed the entrance door, turn right to get to the lift lobby.

House 3

In House 3 you will find

Access to House 3

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for approx. 185 metres.
  2. You will pass House D, House A and the Laboratory and Workshop Building (LW) on your right.
  3. On your left is the main building (HG) with the cafeteria.
  4. At the end of the path, House 3 is now in front of you in a transverse direction to the other buildings.
  5. Turn left and walk straight ahead for approx. 35 metres.
  6. Now turn right and walk straight ahead for approx. 5 metres.
  7. You will now see a tactile guide on the floor.
  8. Follow this guide for approx. 4 metres to reach the entrance to House 3.
  9. This entrance is equipped with an electronic door opener.
  10. The door opener is located in a pillar on the left-hand side.
  11. This has a height of approx. 1.70 metres.
  12. The door opener, which opens the entrance door to House 3, is located at a height of approx. 60 centimetres.
  13. The door opens in the direction of the visitors and has a stop on the left-hand side.

House 4

House 4 houses the administration of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.

  2. You will pass House D, House A and the main building (HG) on your right.
  3. On your left is the main building (HG) with the cafeteria.
  4. Turn left and walk straight ahead for approx. 70 metres.
  5. You will now pass house 3.
  6. Now turn right and walk straight ahead for approx. 30 metres.
  7. You will now see a tactile guide on the floor.
  8. Follow this guide to reach the entrance to House 4.

House 5

In House 5 you will find the Department of Social and Educational Sciences.

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for approx. 185 metres.
  2. You will pass House D, House A and the laboratory and workshop building (LW) on your right.
  3. On your left is the main building (HG) with the cafeteria.
  4. Turn left and walk straight ahead for approx. 100 metres.
  5. You will now pass house 3 and house 4.
  6. Now turn right and walk straight ahead for approx. 30 metres.
  7. You will now see a tactile guide on the floor.
  8. Follow this guide to reach the entrance to House 5.

House 17

House 17 is the students' house and is open 24/7, but only accessible with a Campus.card.

House 17 houses the Casino, a student cultural centre and bar.

The opening hours of the casino vary. You can find exact opening hours on the website.

In House 17 you will find:

  • StuRen - student councils of the faculties

Access to House 17

  1. From the starting point of the central main path, walk straight ahead for approx. 185 metres.
  2. You will pass House D, House A and the Laboratory and Workshop Building (LW) on your right.
  3. On your left is the main building (HG) with the cafeteria.
  4. Turn left and walk straight ahead for 102 metres.
  5. You will now pass between the campus garden (left) and House 3 (right).
  6. After 65 metres, you will pass the junction to the road to the car park and the Kiepenheuerallee access road on your left.
  7. Then walk between House 4 and the construction site for the new building. The next junction is just after the building site.
  8. Turn left again and walk straight ahead for 16 metres.
  9. Then walk 7 metres to the right. There is a ramp there.
  10. Go up this and then 15 metres to the left. You will now reach the door of the co-working space.
  11. A tactile guide is now visible on the floor. The pillar with the door opener and card reader is 1 metre away on the right. The door opens outwards towards the visitor.
  12. The entrance to the casino is 32 metres from the entrance to the co-working space.

Access with Campus.card

The buildings are only accessible outside opening hours with a Campus.card.
