Construction Laboratory for Structural Engineering

As an independent and neutral institution, the Construction Laboratory for Structural Engineering seeks cooperation with all those involved in structural engineering. The aim is to promote new developments and to investigate new structures or structures that can only be computed imperfectly with the help of experimental methods under realistic stresses in the laboratory and on site. This applies…

Laboratory for Building Materials

In the laboratory for building materials, practical laboratory exercises are used to clearly supplement the courses of the department of Civil Engineering on building materials, concrete technology and concrete repair. In addition, the laboratory takes on assignments for materials testing and building materials inventory of existing building fabric.

Laboratory for Building Physics

The Laboratory for Building Physics of the Department of Civil Engineering provided software for modelling, mobile measuring devices for monitoring and stationary laboratory set-ups for detailed investigations for topics in classical building physics and building climatology. The laboratory is not only used for teaching purposes, but also within research projects or for contract research.

Laboratory for Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics

The laboratory for foundation engineering and soil mechanics of the Civil Engineering department uses modern laboratory and field equipment for testing and exploration purposes. All standard subsoil investigations can be carried out in accordance with DIN standards. In addition, the Geotechnical department offers consulting services in all areas of geotechnical and environmental engineering.

Mobility Systems Laboratory

Are we really experiencing the greatest revolution since the invention of the railway and the automobile? To answer this question, we combine innovative concepts with planning and simulation tools in the mobility systems laboratory, which help us to design new solutions and take a look into the future.

Water Laboratory

Knowledge of water management and hydraulic engineering as well as urban water management can be explored further in the water laboratory of the Civil Engineering department. The experimental facilities are used to visualise hydraulic phenomena of water flowing in channels and pipes. Investigations into the chemical, physical and microbiological quality of drinking, surface, ground and waste water…
