Opening of ‘Familien wie Wir’: Caring parents and children with disabilities

Despite their daily, enthusiastic commitment, the children and parents of these ‘Familien wie Wir’ often go unnoticed. The project brings this issue to the public’s attention through art, portraits and interviews.

The exhibition features artistic portraits and interviews with 12 families with children requiring care.

The exhibition highlights not only their strengths, but also the challenges and barriers that restrict carers’ families in their everyday lives. Against the backdrop of current political austerity measures, the project team led by Maria Thalmann considers it particularly important to raise the profile of these carers and children with disabilities.

You can also look forward to a welcome address by Potsdam’s Commissioner for People with Disabilities, Dr Tina Denninger, a musical performance and interesting discussions with the families involved in the project.

University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and the ‘Familien wie Wir’ project team look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition opening.
