Families Like Us – An Exhibition by Carers and their Children with Disabilities
This exhibition focuses on the visibility of "special" families. Despite their daily, dedicated efforts, the children and parents of these ‘families just like us’ are often overlooked. The project brings this issue to the public’s attention through art, portraits and interviews.
The exhibition features artistic portraits and interviews with 12 families with children who require care.
The exhibition explores both the strengths and the challenges and barriers that carer families face in their everyday lives. Against the backdrop of current political austerity measures, the project team led by Maria Thalmann considers it particularly important to raise the profile of these carer parents and their children with disabilities.
