From the 1st of July 2024 to the 22nd of October 2024, six video explainers designed and animated as part of the seminar "Animated infographics in political communication" will be shown at the Brandenburg State Centre for Political Education. The exhibition answers important questions about the state parliament elections, general principles and the election process.

"The Times they are a-changin" is a project by students at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam under the direction of Prof. Lisa Bucher and Prof. Klaus Dufke. To mark the major election year 2024 in Brandenburg, the students looked at topics they had chosen themselves from the field of political communication and presented them in the form of animated infographics. In the seminar, the students not only dealt with the technical implementation but also with the various content-related challenges for the design of political content.

In interviews and discussions with political organisations and role models from the design sector, the students developed their own attitude and a feeling for which form of communication and approach seems suitable for which content and which could best convey their own political message.

Topics of the exhibition:

  • How to Fake News – Mechanismen der Manipulation verstehen (Huy Hoang Nguyen & Hannah Charlotte Krause)
  • Komm ma rüber, ick hab ne Birn! (Samira Rehmert, Betty Zepernick & Maik Reinke)
  • Verschwörungstheorien verstehen (Reto Riha, Valentin Wolff & Andreas Tischner)
  • How To Wählen (Fiete Prüfer)
  • Ehrenamt und Demokratie (Annika Ehritt)
  • Deine Stimme, unsere Zukunft: Warum sie einen Unterschied macht (Alina Benter)
  • Jugend wählt (Maria Dinitz

The opening of the exhibition will take place on the 3rd of July 2024 at 11.00 am. Interested parties have the opportunity to visit the exhibition on the state elections in Brandenburg at the Brandenburg State Centre for Political Education until the 22nd of October 2024.

The exhibition and accompanying publications were designed by our graduate Jennifer Tix (graphic designer, strategic planner and owner of the agency Großstadtzoo).

The seminar took place as part of the Democracy Semester of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. Students and lecturers at FHP are shaping the 2024 summer semester together under the motto #Democracy! All members of the university are invited to actively engage with issues of democracy, diversity and openness through courses, events, research projects and workshops.
