Information on starting your studies

Dear future design students and dear guests,

Welcome to the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and the Department of Design! In the following, we would like to give you a rough overview of what you can expect at the beginning of the semester. Please read everything carefully and register with INCOM.

On this date, all courses and project week programmes will be presented to you by the lecturers online via Zoom. During the Welcome Days, you will have already learnt which courses are particularly suitable for your first degree, how the course of study can proceed depending on your preferences and skills and how the course selection procedure works.

The Zoom rooms will be announced shortly in the 0th Workspace (moderation: StuRa): There will be a Zoom room for the project week presentation + basic study courses + explanation of the course selection procedure and a separate Zoom room for the main study and master courses.

All-day programme for all design students!

Our project weeks take place all day from 12/10/2026 – 16/10/2026 across all degree programmes and years. The compact project offers are a kind of warm-up and serve to actively get to know the campus and people, gain initial professional experience and – not to forget – to acquire the first two ECTS credit points – which, in addition to grades, is the university currency for the "workload" during your studies. At the end of your studies, you will have earned all 240 CP in your bachelor's degree or, depending on your study track, an additional 60–120 CP in your master's degree and we wish you every success until then!

The introductory events and the project weeks from 12/10/2026 – 16/10/2026 are compulsory for all newly enrolled students and ensure a good start to your studies!
