We process personal data in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations. We will neither publish the data nor pass it on to third parties without authorisation.

Collection and processing of personal data: Processing purposes

Personal data is collected and processed from

  • interested parties and target groups, for the application of continuing education programmes
  • participants and students, for the organisation, implementation and follow-up of continuing education programmes
  • Teachers, for the conception, organisation, implementation and follow-up of continuing education programmes
  • Other contractual partners, for the management of continuing education programmes
  • and for other tasks associated with continuing education activities

The further education programmes require certain admission requirements. Appropriate information is required to verify the qualifications, prior knowledge and practical experience of interested parties.

The data protection information also applies in particular to the advertising of any events (continuing education programmes such as certificate courses, degree courses, seminars, distance learning, digital courses as well as other events such as conferences/meetings, workshops, training courses, information events).

Legal basis

The Further Education Unit processes data within the scope of its tasks: (Scientific) further education is one of the central tasks of universities. Thus, Art. 6 section 1 lit. e General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)(performance of a public task) in conjunction with § 3 (tasks of universities) of the Brandenburg University Act forms the legal framework for the work of the Further Education Unit.

Depending on the purpose of processing, the following legal bases also apply:

  • Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR, (consent to data processing)
  • Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR, (fulfilment of contracts)
  • Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR, (fulfilment of a legal, official or judicial obligation)
  • Art. 7 unfair competition act (presumed, comprehensible, commercial interest)

We process your data if you are interested in a specific further training event, register to participate and ultimately undergo further training. Both for the initiation of a contract and for the binding registration for participation, the conclusion of a contract for participation and the organisation of the further training itself, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR forms the legal basis.

Insofar as you are initially interested in our further education programme, are interested in further further education offers after a further education and subscribe to our newsletter, for example, the processing of your data takes place on a voluntary basis. The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.

In addition, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR always has an additional effect if we are subject to further legal obligations (e.g. budgetary law) to process your data beyond university law.

According to Article 7 of the unfair competition act, entities may engage in certain marketing activities as long as they have a legitimate interest in promoting their products or services and this interest is comprehensible to other market participants.
We will not sell or market your personal data to third parties. The Further Education Unit processes your data within the scope of its tasks.

Dispatch of the e-mail newsletter / use of services of external providers

The Further Education Unit uses solutions and services from various providers to send newsletters. These services can be used to organise and analyse the sending of newsletters. The analysis shows, among other things, how many recipients have opened the newsletter and with what frequency links in the newsletter were clicked (statistical analysis). If you wish to object to the data analysis for statistical evaluation purposes, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter.
Your data necessary for receiving the newsletter, such as your e-mail address, may be stored on the provider's servers. The purpose of passing on customer data is to use a newsletter system that is effective in advertising, secure and user-friendly.
In order to fully comply with the legal data protection requirements, order processing agreements have been concluded with the providers.

Right of objection

If you have objected to the use of your e-mail address, we will not send you any e-mails. You are entitled to object to the use of your e-mail address at any time with effect for the future by sending us a message. After receipt of your objection, the use of your e-mail address will be discontinued immediately.
The objection as well as the cancellation of newsletters and mailings are possible at any time by notification by the user concerned to the email address weiterbildung@fh-potsdam.de.

Updating the data protection notice

We adapt the data protection notice to changed functionalities or changed legal situations. We therefore recommend that you read the data protection notice at regular intervals. If your consent is required, the changes will only be made with your consent.
