Retrospective
Online Working Group "Digital Offerings" of the Brandenburg State Centre for Archives and Public Libraries
On the 9th of April 2025, the latest meeting of the "Digital Services" working group took place, which is regularly organised by the State Office for Archives and Public Libraries. The working group is aimed at colleagues from Brandenburg's public libraries. The main topics were the presentation of RiffReporter and the presentation and possible uses of the Minetest tool for teaching media skills.
RiffReporter
Christiane Schulzki-Haddouti presented the journalistic programme of RiffReporter. She reported on the comprehensive range of topics in the knowledge, environment, technology and society sections and on the in-depth researched articles that appear daily. She gave an insight into the work of the more than 100 journalists who work freelance for RiffReporter and provided information about the events they organise for and with libraries.
Minetest
Nico Giuffrida, a budding media educator and active member of his local youth club, presented the "Minetest" software. Minetest is an open-source alternative to the globally popular game Minecraft. With its playability on almost all platforms and a wide range of technical requirements, the programme achieves a high level of accessibility. Mr Giuffrida presented various exciting and creative uses and examples of Minetest, which he has already accompanied in his work with children and young people.
We would like to thank our colleagues for their numerous participation and the speakers Christiane Schulzki-Haddouti and Nico Giuffrida for their informative presentations.
