Launch of the FEEL project - Feeling, Recognising, Assessing, Learning

The three-year ERDF project led by Prof Dr Judith Ackermann and Prof Dr Gerlind Große started at the beginning of May.
We are pleased to present our new FEEL project to you. We are the project leaders Prof Dr Judith Ackermann and Prof Dr Gerlind Große and the research assistants Anja Frank (Psychology & Early Childhood Education Research), Vanessa Isenberg (Media Studies) and Rahel Maué (Psychology). FEEL is a three-year project funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the 'STaF-Verbund' funding programme and has a volume of 800,000 Euro (of which 430,000 Euro is third-party funding). The aim is to help parents understand their children better and to make everyday parenting more accessible and less stressful.
To this end, we want to develop digital media that can be used in everyday life at a low threshold. In particular, we are focussing on exciting technologies such as extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence (AI). Our approach is to use safe and playful scenarios to show parents the mechanisms underlying interactions with children and how they can be improved if necessary.
For example, we are developing an AR-supported conversation simulation, an AI chatbot that supports parents in analysing their behaviour and VR experiences that allow parents to see the world from their child's perspective. The aim is to help parents in a practical and low-threshold way to gain more confidence in dealing with their children and to strengthen the relationship.
To this end, we work closely with Prof. Dr Karsten Krauskopf and the Family and Competence Centre for Early Childhood. If you would like to find out more about us and our work or would like to get involved at one point or another, you can find us in House 5/Room 2.09 or contact us at feel@fh-potsdam.de.
