Discoveries Relating to Hidden Medieval Artworks and Architectural Structures

The Ecumenical European Centre Frankfurt (Oder) e.V., OeC, is delighted to invite you to the opening of the new permanent exhibition "Mit dem Phönix ans Licht" at the Friedenskirche on Open Monuments Day 2026. 

In this exhibition, we present the findings of a research project coordinated by the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU). The focus is on wall paintings in the attics of churches in Brandenburg. The eastern gable of our church, with its hitherto almost unknown medieval exterior wall paintings, takes centre stage.

Many partners and supporters have contributed to bringing what was hidden back into the light through scientific and artistic methods, and to making valuable messages legible once more.
