In the international public health context, free access to scientific research results is a consensus. A large number of tools are already available for individual steps in research data management in the life sciences, but there is still a lack of approaches for comprehensive research data management in the areas of biomedical and molecular data that also function as an organisational and control instrument at a higher level. A standardised workflow for handling research data and the automated integration of all necessary metadata is also lacking.

This is where the project "MaMoDaR: Management of Molecular Data in the Research Data Life Cycle "*, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), comes in with the aim of optimising the efficient and sustainable handling of research data. The project partners are the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP).

The project centres on the development, documentation and publication of a reusable concept and a user-friendly software solution for the research data management of molecular data, taking into account the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). The software developed, the so-called DataLinker, supports the structured publication of scientific data in accordance with the FAIR principles. Existing solutions such as the Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO) and public repositories such as GenBank are also integrated into the system.

The poster explains how DataLinker uses information from the data management plan (DMP) created by RDMO and rules based on standard operating procedures (SOPs) to automatically enrich and store collected measurement data with relevant metadata. The possibilities and advantages for users, scientists and sponsors are also outlined.
