Laurynas Skeisgiela "Liump! Heuriger" Installation – Community Lab* – Immersive Wine – Talk
The Lithuanian artist Laurynas Skeisgiela presents his work. A semi-fictional video documentation of the event “Liump! Heuriger” stages a traditional Austrian wine tavern together with a moth-watching set.
Mothing is a nocturnal adventure dedicated to species of strange shapes and intricate patterns. Heuriger in eastern Austria is a temporal tavern where local winemakers serve their new wine under a special license in alternating months during the growing season. Wine is the main ingredient that connects the Heuriger to mothing. "Liump! Heuriger" merged both activities by attracting humans and insects alike.
This visually striking video installation is synchronized with the expansion of the exhibition "Erinnerung und Fotografie", featuring new pieces by community members. They closely worked with students from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam to co-create AI-based photography during the first part of our Community Lab held in Luckenwalde. The 4-day workshop was led by Professor Wiebke Loeper and organized by Christian Berkes, Tina Steiger, and Marta Domurat-Linde. In a different, more analog way, this second part of our Community Lab* also poses questions around visibility, authenticity, strategy, mimicry, and the possibilities for (human/non-human) community.
