Fake News

Fake news is spreading faster than ever before - via social networks, messenger services and even established platforms. But how can fake news, manipulated images or misleading sources be recognised?

In the three-hour Zoom webinar "Fact Check & Verification - How to Recognise False Information Online", Prof. Markus Kaiser shows how to critically check information, evaluate sources and use digital tools in a targeted manner to verify the truth behind claims. Participants will learn how professional fact-checkers work, which tools help with the verification of texts, images and videos and how to handle information responsibly at work.

Speaker: Prof Markus Kaiser, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Physics and General Sciences at the Institute of Technology Georg Simon Ohm in Nuerenberg

The webinar is organised by the Brandenburg Specialist Unit for Archives and Public Libraries in Brandenburg and is aimed at employees from archives and public libraries in Brandenburg. Online access will be sent via the relevant mailing lists of the target group.
