Reading with Rebekka Endler and the presentation of the Gender Prize 2025 of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam
Rebekka Endler will be reading from her book "Witches, Bitches, It-Girls.Wie patriarchale Mythen uns bis heute prägen", creating a wonderful setting for the presentation of the FH Potsdam Gender Award 2025.
In her new book "Witches, Bitches, It-Girls", author, journalist and podcaster Rebekka Endler tries to get to the bottom of the causes of patriarchy. In her anecdotal search for clues, she uncovers the extent to which misogynistic and patriarchal ideas characterise our thinking and our lives - from the ideal of beauty to right-wing rhetoric. And Rebekka Endler takes a critical look at the role of women and asks: What makes so many women today still dream of a Prince Charming?
"Rebekka Endler's writing is alert and committed, she has studied an infinite number of sources and strikes a fast-paced balance between literary, natural and cultural studies and plenty of pop culture," commented Susanne Billig on Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
There will be an opportunity to experience the bestselling author at a reading in the FHP library on the 9th of December at 5.00 pm.
The reading will form the framework for the awarding of the FH Potsdam Gender Prize 2025 to Natalie Popovic Garcia for her bachelor's thesis "EL CAMINO DE_ Der Einfluss geschlechtsspezifischer Unsicherheiten von Frauen auf ihre Wegwahl im öffentlichen Raum von Mexico-Stadt". For many years, the Gender Prize of the FH Potsdam has honoured outstanding theses that deal with gender aspects of the respective subject area and the social background in a well-founded manner and demonstrate originality and sensitivity.
All members of the university are cordially invited!
