Best Practice: Promoting Democracy

More than ever, spaces and formats for political education are needed for all people in order to strengthen democratic values and initiate dialogue. Libraries are very suitable places for this. Promoting democracy and civic education in libraries is conceivable in a variety of formats. But how can these formats be designed to be low-threshold, accessible and in line with basic political didactic standards?

Be inspired by the experiences of other participants and let us reflect on tried and tested political education formats together with Elisa Moser, who has already worked with several Saxon libraries on political education. In addition, you will work with the speaker on didactic considerations for space-related political education in the library and get involved in the practical development of future formats in your library.

Speaker: Elisa Moser, research associate at the John Dewey Research Centre for the Didactics of Democracy at the Technical University of Dresden
