Learning to Read with Comics - Discovering Potential for Reading Promotion
Comics can be a real door opener to reading books! Children with little reading experience in particular benefit from the short text passages, the appealing pictures and the quick sense of achievement. In this way, comics make a significant contribution to developing a positive self-image of reading and to strengthening reading motivation in the long term.
However, not every comic is equally suitable for promoting reading. In this practice-orientated webinar, you will receive a compact overview of the comic book genre. You will also learn how to select suitable titles for children based on specific criteria and how to expand your collection in a targeted manner.
Contents of the webinar
- Background knowledge on the literary genre of comics
- Criteria for the selection of comics
- Presentation of recommended titles
- Tips for stock building in the library
Speaker: Martina Streble, Publishing Director of Edition Helden
