Module overview

Module 1: Introduction to Building Information Modelling (BIM)

Start with the basic concepts and definitions of BIM. Learn about the benefits and challenges associated with implementing BIM and why it is indispensable in modern construction planning.

Module 2: BIM Objectives and Use Cases

Familiarise yourself with the many possible applications of BIM. This module shows you how BIM helps to increase efficiency and improve the quality of construction projects, from the design phase to construction and facility management.

Module 3: Client Information Requirements

Understand the requirements that clients place on BIM projects. We explain how these information requirements are defined and documented and which legal and contractual aspects need to be taken into account.

Module 4: BIM Development Plan

Learn how to create and implement a BIM execution plan (BAP). This module teaches you how a BAP is structured, what content it should include and how it contributes to the successful and efficient handling of BIM projects.

Construction and project engineers, architects, project developers, specialist planners, construction and project managers, building owners, building product manufacturers, clients, BIM managers

Scope of learning

Total duration approx. 90 minutes plus individual working and learning time and exam. The course content can be repeated as often as required.

Examination and certificate

If you wish, you can take an exam after completing the course. If you pass, you will receive a recognised online certificate from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP). The certificate confirms your knowledge and skills in the field of Building Information Modelling and can significantly improve your career prospects.

Proof of a university degree is required for admission to the examination.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) not only represents a technological revolution, but also a paradigm shift that is fundamentally transforming the planning, construction and operation of buildings into the digital world. The BIM method enables those involved in construction to plan, execute and manage complex projects more transparently and efficiently than before by making the necessary information available digitally and accessible in real time.

Currently, the use of the BIM method is not yet the standard in practice; we are still at the beginning of the process of introducing it across the board. Specialist knowledge is required both in teaching the basics and in applying them in practice in order to be able to prepare and professionally support a project.

The unique added value of our course lies in the fact that we not only impart sound basic knowledge, but also demonstrate practical applications.
