Germany Scholarships awarded to 26 students
In the 2025/26 funding period, University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is awarding 26 Germany Scholarships to particularly committed and high-achieving students. The scholarship holders receive 300 euros per month for one year. Since the start of the funding programme, the university - together with numerous partners and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) - has been able to award a total of 1,417,500 euros in funding to students. The award ceremony took place on 15 October 2025 as part of the "360° ZUKUNFT | FH Potsdam" student day.
The Deutschlandstipendium is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements, special talents and social commitment. In addition to academic success, social responsibility, voluntary work and overcoming personal or biographical hurdles are also taken into account in the decision.
President Prof. Dr Eva Schmitt-Rodermund emphasises the importance of the programme: "The Deutschlandstipendium recognises special academic achievements and outstanding commitment - it is a strong sign of appreciation and an important contribution to educational equality. It gives talented young people the opportunity to concentrate fully on their studies without any financial burden. I am particularly proud of the close connection between our sponsors and scholarship holders - it shows that education is not just for the individual, but for society as a whole. Education is a joint project for the future in which we should all invest."
The funding is independent of income and parents and can be received in addition to BAföG benefits. It is granted for at least two semesters, up to the end of the standard period of study - repayment is not required.

About the Deutschlandstipendium
The Deutschlandstipendium is a nationwide funding programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It supports high-achieving and committed students at all universities in Germany, regardless of their background or income. The aim is to promote academic excellence and strengthen social responsibility.
The Deutschlandstipendium is funded in equal parts by private sponsors and the federal government: 150 euros come from companies, foundations, associations or individuals, and a further 150 euros from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The combination of private and public funding creates a strong network of science, business and civil society that invests in the future of education and research in Germany.
