fabas - Specialist advice on barrier-free hearing & communication systems

Technical aids play an important role in the participation of people with disabilities in working life. In particular, there are specific hearing systems and aids to support communication in the workplace for people with hearing impairments, which require expert counselling for employees and employers. However, in the nationwide network of specialist integration services, which are the first point of contact when people with disabilities need advice in working life, there are only a few specialist advisors who have in-depth knowledge of technical advice for people with hearing impairments and can provide them with comprehensive information.

The aim of the project is to create a central point of contact that supports specialist integration services (IFD) throughout Germany in providing technical advice for people with hearing impairments in working life. In the future, this is to be made possible by setting up a knowledge database and the possibility of online remote counselling by experts. This will relieve the burden on local integration counsellors and ensure the quality of counselling in all IFDs.

The project is being carried out at the IFD Mittelfranken and is currently being supported by Franziska Geib from the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences in an advisory capacity.
