Understanding Dementia. A Series of Workshops for Family Carers.
The FAMteam's series of workshops on the topic of "Caring for relatives" is being expanded to include a free, external programme. Find out everything you need to know about dementia and how you can deal with your family members appropriately.
Caring for relatives is an integral part of society because it is based on the basic human need for help and support. The dimensions of care are diverse and individual: it can be necessary suddenly, after an accident or a difficult illness. In many cases, however, care can also be planned. The FAMteam's quarterly series of workshops sheds light on fundamental questions and framework conditions in order to provide low-threshold and preventative support to our affected university members.
We would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to a series of free care courses on the subject of dementia, in which the following topics will be discussed on consecutive dates:
- Symptoms of dementia
- Causes and diagnosis
- Therapy options
- Communication with people with dementia
- Dealing with difficult behaviour such as withdrawal, aggression or restlessness
- Relief options for relatives
In cooperation with the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, this event is an extended offer from the FAMteam, which is organised by lecturer Marina Dillmann. She has been a psychological counsellor and psychotherapist (HPG), freelance occupational therapist and seminar leader for training and further education in the areas of gerontology, therapeutic treatments for dementia, relaxation techniques and communication since 2009.
The care programme will take place in two sessions on the following dates:
1st session
- 1st of September 2026
- 8th of September 2026
- 15th of September 2026

2nd session
- 4th of November 2026
- 11th of November 2026
