Webinar: Self-Care and Warning Signs in Everyday Working Life: Understanding and Improving Mental Health
Mental strain has long been part of everyday working life – particularly in public libraries and archives, which are often faced with staff shortages, pressure from the public and high expectations. But how can I recognise early warning signs in myself and within my team? And how can I look after myself properly, even under challenging conditions, without taking on too much?
This was the topic of the online seminar organised by the Brandenburg Specialist Unit for Archives and Public Libraries in Brandenburg, which was attended by a large number of staff from Brandenburg’s archives and public libraries. Daniela Wittke (librarian and stress management specialist) shared practical strategies for realistic, everyday self-care. She also provided participants with helpful tools to aid self-reflection and to help them apply these insights to their day-to-day working lives in the future. As well as exploring the stressors participants face on a daily basis, Daniela Wittke helped them identify specific steps they can take to address them.
Many thanks to Daniela Wittke for the informative and engaging webinar, and to the staff from the archives and public libraries for their active participation.
