Retrospective
The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam at the 3rd Circular Design Summit NRW
On the 23rd of April 2026, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP) was represented at the 3rd Circular Design Summit of the Effizienz-Agentur NRW. The Centre for Research and Transfer Services and InNoWest presented the interactive format "Spiel mit Grenzen" and offered visitors insights into resource-saving design.
At the invitation of the Effizienz-Agentur NRW, Tobias Jänecke (InNoWest), Isabell Kutzscher (InNoWest) and Gilbert Wigankow (Centre for Research and Transfer Services) travelled to Dortmund to present the project to a wide audience of experts from Design, business and science at the Bürgerhaus Pulsschlag. "Spiel mit Grenzen" translates often abstract and highly complex topics such as planetary boundaries and CO₂ budgets into an interactive, analogue format. This not only makes sustainability goals and personal resource consumption tangible, but also allows players to experience them directly and playfully. The summit provided us with the framework to present this approach and to discuss current developments and best practices in the circular economy.
The following topics were discussed at the stand:
- How can abstract climate targets and budgets be translated into concrete room for manoeuvre?
- What role does circular design play in meeting our planetary boundaries?
The presentation met with great interest and showed how important accessible formats are for the successful transfer of knowledge to society and the economy.
The Effizienz-Agentur NRW offers a detailed review of the entire event on its website.
