Extension of the Social Fund Statutes: more Support for Students with Child(ren)

On the 10^th of December 2025, the student body decided to extend the social fund statutes. From the summer semester 2026, students with a low family income - especially single parents - will be able to apply for financial support for additional costs in connection with study-related childcare.

The social fund, which previously mainly supported the semester ticket, will thus be significantly expanded: In future, costs for offers such as flexible childcare or holiday workshops at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam can also be covered in full or in part.

The aim of this innovation is to improve the compatibility of studying and family life and to strengthen equal opportunities. Students who have additional costs due to special childcare situations (e.g. daycare centre closures or off-peak childcare) and are unable to cover these themselves are eligible to apply.
