Non-violent Communication – recognising needs, communicating clearly, de-escalating constructively

This workshop, led by the experts at friånd, offers students, those starting out in their careers and (aspiring) managers a universal toolkit for building strong professional relationships, conducting effective conversations and demonstrating confident leadership in the workplace.

Effective communication is the foundation for strong relationships, both in everyday life and at work. This module teaches you the basics of Non-Violent Communication (NVC) as developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg. You’ll gain tried-and-tested tools for your everyday life to help you remain clear on the issues and respectful in your tone during difficult conversations.

This is what this course is about:

  • Decoding needs: Look beyond the surface of resistance or accusations in a conversation. Learn to understand your counterpart’s deeper concerns in order to specifically foster cooperation and satisfaction.
  • Clarity instead of accusations: Gain tried-and-tested tools to address your concerns in your (professional) day-to-day life in a way that ensures they are understood without putting the other person on the defensive.
  • Constructive de-escalation: Discover strategies for keeping your cool during emotionally charged conversations or when differences of opinion arise, and for actively steering the discussion towards a factual and solution-oriented level.
