Typical East, Typical West? Realities of Life and Challenges for Women in Divided Germany
From the 9th of April to the 6th of May, the exhibition "Women in Divided Germany" by the Bundesstiftung Aufarbeitung will be on display in the main building. We are opening the exhibition with a discussion between the Potsdam cultural manager Doreen Löwe and FHP employees on the range of topics covered by the exhibition.
The exhibition "Women in Divided Germany" organised by the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the Past deals with the different realities of life and challenges faced by women in East and West Germany under headings such as "Typically East, Typically West", "The Image of Women", "Sexuality and Self-Determination", "The Little Bit of Household" or "Women's Power in a Comparison of Systems".
We want to open the exhibition with a discussion between Potsdam's cultural manager Doreen Löwe and four FHP employees on the themes of the exhibition. With a fifth empty chair, we invite other female colleagues or students to take part – temporarily – in the discussion.
You are cordially invited to use the empty chair to share your views on what has been lost, what has been achieved, what is worth preserving and on commonalities or individual aspects beyond stereotypes and clichés!
Of course, non-females are also cordially invited to the vernissage.
