Online Workshop – Intercultural Management

The workshop, led by expert Jenny Drömer, provides a solid grounding in intercultural management and combines theoretical insights with practical exercises.

In a globalised world of work, the ability to understand cultural differences and deal with them constructively is a key factor for success. At the start of the workshop, participants explore the concept of culture and learn about the key cultural models and theories developed by Edward T. Hall, Geert Hofstede, Fons Trompenaars, Max Weber and Shalom H. Schwartz.

The second part of the workshop focuses on intercultural communication. Participants will learn how perception, interpretation and communication patterns are shaped by culture, and how this can influence collaboration within international teams.

Finally, key aspects of intercultural management – in particular common misunderstandings and conflicts – are analysed, and strategies for dealing with cultural diversity in a professional and constructive manner are developed collaboratively.

The workshop is aimed at students and graduates, as well as anyone working in an intercultural environment. The aim of the workshop is to reflect on one’s own cultural background, to better understand cultural differences and to specifically strengthen one’s own intercultural competence.

Workshop leader: Jenny Drömer, M.A., studied Intercultural Communication at Chemnitz University of Technology. Since 2009, she has been teaching at various universities in Russia and Germany, including the ‘Intercultural Communication’ module.
