Self-employment on the podium: inspiration and knowledge sharing
A round table discussion on the topic of self-employment
What does it mean to take the plunge into self-employment - and which paths lead there?
Together with the FRAUEN initiative, is organising a round table discussion on the topic of self-employment. The aim is to share experiences, strengthen networks and encourage women and FLINTA people* in particular to create their own career paths in architecture and crafts.
Four women from different sectors share their experiences in this round table and provide insights into the reality of starting up, managing and being an entrepreneur. Whether it's the first steps towards starting your own business, the decision between solo self-employment or partnership, new forms of work, networks or strategies for coping with stress - the panel will be practical, inspiring and personal. Students from all disciplines are cordially invited to listen, ask questions and take away ideas for their own path. Following the discussion, there will be
the opportunity to chat and network over drinks and snacks.

Barrier-free building, where that can lead...
Sebastian Brüning is an architect and accessibility expert. After training as a carpenter, he studied architecture at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences and then worked at Feddersen Architekten, among others, where he developed his passion for social architecture. Since 2021, he has been part of the management team at UrBansky Architekten PartGmbB in Berlin, where he heads the Health & Care/Social Buildings and Inclusive Housing division. Brüning specialises in projects with social responsibility - such as care homes, day-care centres, schools and workshops for people with disabilities - and combines aesthetic quality with functional accessibility in interior and exterior spaces. Since 2019, he has also been working as an expert for barrier-free construction, urban planning and exterior design.
His understanding of architecture is characterised by the idea of creating "architecture for all" that enables inclusion, self-determination and social participation. On 18 November 2025, we welcome Sebastian Brüning with a lecture on barrier-free building. He will impart theoretical principles and show practical approaches on how inclusive design can be implemented at different scales - from urban space to detail. The focus will be on the question of how accessibility can be understood not only as a technical quality, but also as a social and design quality.
