Are you an international student in the Department of CITY | CONSTRUCTION | CULTURE at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and would like to perfect your application documents? Then this workshop is just right for you!
As part of the DAAD-funded project IFMB2 (Internationale Fachkräfte für die Metropolregion Berlin-Brandenburg), the International Office is offering an application workshop aimed specifically at international students. In this practice-oriented workshop, participants will learn how to optimise their application documents for their professional field in CITY | CONSTRUCTION | CULTURE and significantly increase their chances on the (German and European) job market. Special consideration is given to language barriers and cultural differences in the application process for international students.
They will learn how to precisely analyse job advertisements, create individual application documents and strategically use AI tools such as ChatGPT. This gives participants practical methods and strategies for responding specifically to suitable job offers, writing unsolicited applications for desired companies and presenting themselves in the best possible way.
After the first workshop, participants have time to prepare their application documents. After one week, there will be individual one-to-one sessions in which they will receive personal feedback on their documents from the trainer.

Contents of the workshop
Part I: Workshop

- Analysing job advertisements
- Creation of application documents for specific jobs or speculative applications
- Use of AI applications (e.g. ChatGPT)
- Familiarisation with application portals and company websites
- Strategies for using alternative job sources
Individualised further work on the application documents (1 week): Between Part I and II, you have two weeks to work on your application documents including letter of motivation, CV.
Part II: Individual one-to-one coaching sessions

- 25-30 minutes per participant for personal feedback and targeted optimisation of application documents
- Time slot for individual coaching will be agreed individually with the trainer in Part I
The workshop will be held in German , support in English will be offered if required.
About the trainer
Katharina Werth is the founder and owner of the HR strategy consultancy Jobweiser and an author. She is a certified adult educator, has more than 10 years of teaching experience in adult education as a freelance trainer, as a lecturer at educational institutions in Austria and is a LinkedIn Learning Trainer. She studied marketing with a focus on HR management and has worked as a recruiter and IT project manager. Her areas of expertise are recruiting, employer branding and onboarding.
