Don’t be afraid of moving images! Whilst objects, documents and pictures in an archive allow us to immerse ourselves directly in times gone by, the greatest treasures often remain untouched: moving image and audio media. More often than not, the equipment and expertise needed to unlock this treasure trove are lacking. The two-day course „Moving Images and Sound: From the Original Medium to the Digital Archive“ systematically breaks down these barriers. By the end of the course, participants will have the skills to digitise video cassettes, audio cassettes or films themselves, or to commission someone else to do so.

Markus Leutwyler can look back on more than half a century of life experience, and his fascination with photography, film and sound has lasted almost as long. He has actively witnessed the transition from analogue media such as Super 8 and VHS to digital media.
As a film producer and digitisation specialist at , he is familiar with all the hurdles that need to be overcome if analogue media are to continue to be used digitally in today’s world.
