Workshop: Verifying Facts

Annelie Naumann, a freelance journalist, gave participants from Brandenburg’s public libraries fascinating insights into her work. She highlighted the pitfalls and spoke about so-called „fake news’“ which even experienced journalists can fall for. 

The participants learnt how to scrutinise news critically, how to recognise which news items are genuine and which have been falsified, and how to spot AI-generated content. She conveyed this clearly by drawing on her specialist and professional background, whilst also warning that, in the coming years, AI-generated images, videos and news stories will become increasingly difficult to distinguish from genuine content.
