Successful start of the German-Uzbek Summer School 2022 in Bukhara

From 12 - 23.09.2022 a German-Uzbek Summer School in the project "Interdisciplinary at the Monument - Transfer, innovative methods and research-based learning in practical projects for the preservation of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan" will take place at the Kukeldash Mederese in Bukhara.

From four partner universities – the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, Bukhara State University and the State Universities of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Tashkent and Samarkand – professors, scientists and students from the fields of architecture, civil engineering and conservation and restoration are participating in the interdisciplinary project and are developing documentation bases for the preservation of the building, which dates back to the 17th century.

In addition, the three-year project "Interdisciplinary at the Monument" will deepen the cooperation of all partners involved in research and teaching, studies and further education. The project aims to lay the foundations for further cooperation in the further development of existing and the development of new, coordinated research and study formats in the subject areas of architecture and urban planning, monument preservation, civil engineering, building conservation and construction work on existing buildings as well as conservation and restoration.

The opening event took place on September 14 in Bukhara. The film gives an impression of the ceremonial opening event of the Summer School.
