Retrospective

Successful participation in the 5th virtual training fair "What's next in the job?"

How to take the next career step in the library and information sector? This question was the focus of the 5th virtual continuing education fair "What's next in your job?", which took place on the 23rd of January, 2026. The Department of Information Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam was successfully represented with its own contribution and met with lively interest from participants.

The Department of Information Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam was successfully represented at the fifth virtual continuing education fair "What's next in your job?" on the 23rd of January, 2026. The event was aimed at prospective students, professionals and anyone planning further training or a career change in the library and information sector.

In an online session, Prof Dr Ulrike Wuttke provided information about the Bachelor of Library Sciences qualification course for media and information service specialists (FaMI) with professional experience. The offer met with great interest: Many participants took the opportunity to find out directly about the programme content, admission requirements and options for recognition and credit transfer. An overview of the modules for which recognition is possible can be found here. This programme will replace the fee-based distance learning course in Library Science, which will be offered until 2021.

A total of seven universities presented their twelve current Bachelor's, Master's and certificate programmes. In addition to general information in short elevator pitches, personal counselling sessions and an intensive exchange with the lecturers were made possible.

The fair was organised by the Conference of Information and Library Sciences Training and Study Programmes (KIBA), Section 7 of the dbv, in cooperation with the Wildau Institute of Technology.
