A farewell ceremony for the 2026 graduates of the Department of Information Sciences
At a celebratory event on the 29th of May 2026, the Department of Information Sciences bid farewell to its graduates from the bachelor's degree programmes in Archival Studies, Library Science, and Information and Data Management.
The ceremony in the Main Lecture Theatre honoured the graduates from the summer semester of 2025 and the winter semester of 2025/26. Following a welcome address by the Dean, Prof. Dr Ellen Euler, the graduates were honoured, with the topics of their final theses announced and gifts presented.
Students were also recognised for their involvement in bodies such as Recruitment Committees for Professorial Recruitment, the Departmental Student Council and the Departmental Council. The closing address was given by Holger Ehrmann and Ali Mohammed from the Information and Data Management (IuD) degree programme.
Musical accompaniment during the event was provided by Daniel Schäfer from the IuD degree programme and the Potsdam-based musician Betty Beat.
Around 80 guests attended, including graduates, family members, alumni and members of the Department. The event concluded with a champagne reception on the gallery in the main building.
The Department would like to thank everyone involved, in particular the Friends of the Department, the Departmental Student Council and all the helpers.
