30 years of ZEW | 5% anniversary discount on our training courses in the month of September
The Centre for Further and Continuing Education (ZEW) at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025. The university is honouring its long-standing commitment to lifelong learning and professional development with a varied programme and special events.
Since its foundation, ZEW has established itself as a permanent fixture in the continuing education landscape and offers practical, interdisciplinary training programmes for specialists and managers. To mark the anniversary, participants benefit from a 5% discount on all continuing education programmes throughout the month of September - a thank you to all those who live and value continuing education.
A look back - milestones and strategies
- ZEW was established as an integral part of the university in terms of lifelong learning - deliberately not a spin-off into an external structure. Instead, continuing education was anchored as an essential component.
- Over the years, the programme has expanded enormously: from part-time certificate courses and seminars to online and blended learning formats. Today, over 300 seminar days are on the programme every year and more than 700 participants benefit from an industry average of over 98% recommendations.
Review - present - outlook
- In the anniversary interview, Prof Dr Tobias Schröder, Vice President Studies & Teaching, emphasised how important it was to maintain ZEW as part of the university. He emphasised integration instead of separation - with a view to flexible, part-time continuing education as part of future degrees.
- In an age of rapid social changes such as digitalisation, demographic change and a shortage of skilled workers, Schröder sees continuing education not as a means to an end, but as a key to shaping and participating.
- Future vision: The UAS Potsdam is to develop from a student mentor in early phases of life - to a lifelong educational mentor that makes it possible to gradually lead continuing education over longer periods of time to a (degree) qualification.
To mark the 30th anniversary of ZEW, the anniversary discount of 5% will apply to all further education courses from the 1st of September, 2025 - a thank you to all learners and companions.
