All life needs periods of rest.

But what does sleep in urban areas mean for people, animals and plants? What effects do heat, bright nights and traffic noise have on the sleep, health and well-being of all urban creatures? And is there perhaps even an environmental right to sleep?

Students of Design and European Media Studies at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and the University of Potsdam have approached these questions and developed a Prêt-à-Rêver collection from their findings. Based on observations in urban space, scientific research and creative experiments, a series of individual sleep fashions was created that visualise the restless states of a multitude of affected living beings and sleep as a fragile resource in the city.
