Libraries & Culture as a Counterpoint to Right-Wing Extremism & Disinformation – Discussion and Networking Event

How can libraries and cultural projects counter right-wing extremist narratives and disinformation? What role do education, arts management and cultural work and information literacy play in this - and what contribution can the Arts Management and Cultural Work and the Library Science degree programmes at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam make?

Right-wing extremism and disinformation represent a growing challenge for our democratic society. This makes places where people can access reliable information, engage in dialogue and experience democratic values all the more important. Libraries and cultural projects are such places: they promote education, enable participation and create spaces for dialogue and social cohesion.

Together with representatives from libraries, cultural projects, universities and students, we will discuss challenges, perspectives and concrete approaches for practice and education.

• Formats and programmes of libraries and cultural projects
• Similarities and differences between the two areas
• Skills for professionals and possible gaps in studies and training
• Co-operations and projects for students
