Annual Conference 2024 of the International Association for Educational Assistance

The annual conference of the IGfH in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is dedicated to questions about the mission and possibilities of organising educational support as good places. The conference is aimed at employees of public and independent educational support organisations and related fields of work, as well as self-advocacy groups of young people and parents, academics, students and interested members of the public.

Educational support as good places

The concept of place refers to the real and concrete living conditions in which (young) people are at home. At the same time, places are also always relationship spaces.

Outpatient and inpatient educational support and foster care as part of the infrastructure in childhood and adolescence should stimulate new development processes, fulfil young people's rights and offer protection. It is about places where young people can find resources to cope with their developmental tasks. The aim is to create and establish places where young people can experience participation in social life and social diversity, demand and exercise their rights and live and shape their relationships with family, parents and friends. As spaces in educational support centres are significantly shaped by professionals and the professional environment, the places are also (working) places of professional action.

We cordially invite you to join us in Potsdam to explore the design and potential spaces of educational support as good places and look forward to seeing you there!
