MORARI – Redefining Comfort at Station

Morari (Latin for linger) is a six-part urban furniture series developed in collaboration with Jesse Altmann, Valentina Lenk and Klara Schneider, which questions the comfort at bus stops using Potsdam as an example.

The series uses the standardised railings as the basis for attaching various seat modules, backrests and tables. Passengers can thus wait flexibly in groups or alone, sitting or standing, with or without luggage at the stops. The amorphous design language, intended for 1-to-1 3D printing using a robot arm, gives the series its individual character and loosens up the conventional aesthetics of the stops.

Recycled polypropylene was chosen as the material because of its durability, stability and colour fastness. The plastic allows a return to the cycle, rapid production and the individual colour design of each piece of furniture.

Components:
TABLE / STOOL / STOOL XT / LEAN / CHAIR / CHAIR XT
More details about the individual pieces of furniture can be found on the Morari website.

The project idea was developed in the “Urban Parasites” course, supervised by Sebastian Voigt from Design + Robotics and funded by Kulturland Brandenburg as part of the 2023 theme year “Living Building Culture”.

The project was honoured with the Brandenburg Design Award in the category “Young Professionals | Industrial Design/Product Design”.
