Materialnet

With Materialnet, the search and selection of materials and commodities as well as the evaluation of their technical suitability and ecological impact, works as easily and intuitively as online shopping.
The platform prototype for Materialnet was funded as part of the Innovation Fund of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.

The cross-cutting theme of materials combines ecological, economic, technical and aesthetic factors. Which materials, commodities, technologies and production processes are chosen is not only important for the success of products and companies. Rather, this choice is crucial for reducing the ecological footprint of all physical products, systems, plants, equipment, facilities, buildings and infrastructure – our entire material environment.

Materialnet offers extensive knowledge on materials, technologies, products & services, resource consumption, climate impact & sustainability – simple, fast and understandable on one platform and accessible to everyone. With just a few clicks, you can find out how large a material's carbon footprint is and what current and future environmental costs are associated with it. Operational and process-related emissions for the building & housing sector can also be calculated and compared with Materialnet. Intuitive filtering, cross-material group comparison and future-oriented selection with Materialnet!
