Further Education Unit

In accordance with its legal duties, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam conducts continuing education events in addition to its undergraduate degree programs. Further education is a relevant building block in lifelong learning and is part of the fixed educational offer of our application- and research-oriented university.
With this in mind, we offer participants from different occupational and age groups a wide range of opportunities to expand their qualification profile and skills in a targeted manner. Further Education Unit (ZEW) of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is a non-profit enterprise of a commercial nature under tax law. Its structure is based on the principle of professional decentralization and organizational-logistical centralization: The professional design of and responsibility for continuing education programs lies explicitly with the departments, degree programs and lecturers of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, while the ZEW, as a service institution of the university, centrally coordinates and provides services "from a single source" for the development, marketing, implementation and administration of continuing education projects.

.

According to the ZEW Statutes, the departments form the ZEW Directorate with one representative each and are thus responsibly involved in the design, development, profiling and strategic management of continuing education. This form of institutionalization establishes a continuous interdisciplinary working and decision-making process for the area of continuing education. The Directorate is the interdisciplinary steering committee of the ZEW. It is part of its self-image to promote communication between the departments/programs/teachers and the ZEW and to encourage and support corresponding networking and cooperation with external partners. The directors act internally and externally as supporters and multipliers for continuing education. The members of the directorate are appointed by the president for a maximum of 4 years on the recommendation of the senate. Reappointment is possible.

Members of the Directorate are:
