Honorary professorships

Individuals who work full-time outside the university and who have achieved outstanding academic or artistic achievements may be appointed honorary professor by the president of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. The appointment requires several years of teaching at a university.

Requirements

With the appointment of an honorary professor, the university recognises special commitment to the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam or special achievements in a professional practice of several years. As a rule, two teaching hours are associated with an honorary professorship. An honorarium is not paid.
Honorary professors are entitled to use the title of professor.

You cannot apply for an honorary professorship. The procedure is initiated by a professor's application to the departmental council and requires the fulfilment of the formal hiring requirements for professors according to § 41 of the Brandenburg university act, a departmental council resolution based on two external expert opinions, and a senate resolution.
