ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Admission to courses in Design and in Architecture, Restoration and Culture Management is dependent upon a successful result in a placement test.
It is also possible to take part in a course of practical experience based/ distance learning online for courses in social work. There are special entrance requirements for participation in this course of study. (see information ›leaflet BASA, pdf)
At the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, there are a number of artistically based compulsory aptitude tests which must be passed before entrance can be given to the courses mentioned below. A more precise "schedule" can be obtained during individual registration for testing in one’s selected field of study.
Registration:
runs until 1st of April
Examination:
You will be invited for an interview at the University of Applied Sciences: You should bring with you a portfolio containing at least five examples of your own artistic work (sketches, photographs etc).

Earliest possible date of commencement of studies is in the winter semester following registration
Pre- course selection:
You should submit your portfolio and will be given a theme on which to complete a written assignment. The pre-selection will be made on the basis of the standard of this piece of work and the quality of work in the portfolio.
Examination:
You will be invited to an examination, which will be from one to two days in length. The exam consists of several tests and a personal interview.
Registration:
1st April – ›closing date for registration
You will be given a topic for a home assignment and decide yourself how you will deal with this topic. Afterwards, you should register in writing by the 30th of April for a colloquium.

Pre-selection:
You will be given a topic for a home assignment. Pre-selection will be based on the results of this assignment.
Examination:
The examination will take the form of a personal interview, the content of which will be guided by discussion of your assignment. It should last around 30 minutes.
All course applicants who pass the aptitude test are obliged to participate in further entrance procedures (a quota system or numerus clausus is in operation). The final deadline for registration for this is always the 15th of July.
