Research at the University of Applied Sciences

The applied nature of research, design and development in the faculties of the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam makes a valuable contribution towards innovation, as well as social and cultural growth. As a result of its broad range of courses, competence and competence networks in the following three areas of focus are particularly emphasised:

"New Media and Knowledge Management",
"The Building and Cultural Landscape of Brandenburg",
"Social and Cultural Construction of Society.

The following goals are envisaged for research and development carried out at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.

Transfer of research results – Research and development should aim at communicating results; an exchange of ideas with business, administrations, institutions and organisations should be ensured and the documentation of research well maintained.
The meaning of research and development for teaching. Research and development should play an important role in lessons, particularly in Masters courses. As far as possible, students should themselves be able to participate.

An important component of research and development at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam are the co-operation agreements, networks and partnerships with (regional as well as national) research institutions and businesses as well as with administrative bodies and organisations. The University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam and its excellent institutes carry out a lot of vital tasks for the county and its surrounding regions.
