INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
The following rules regarding application are for students who do not have a German Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (certificate of eligibility for training at an institution of higher learning).
Before the University can decide on whether to award an international student a place, there must be official recognition made of that applicant’s educational certificates/qualifications (school, further education, language abilities, work placements). This official recognition is carried out by the organisation ASSIST (Application Services for International Students), which is run jointly by the universities in Germany.
ASSIST charges 50€ for examining an application to an "ASSIST-University". Applicants wishing to apply to more than one participating university will be charged an additional 10€ per "ASSIST-University" applied to. Applicants from the Eurorean Union will be charged only 25 €. Applicants from the Peoples Republic of China, who have already undergone application procedures with the "Akademische Prüfstelle (APS)" in Beijing, will be charged only 20€ and 10€ respectively.

ASSIST will forward applications to the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam as soon as it has successfully verified students’ educational qualifications. The University will then decide on eligibility to study.
If ASSIST is not able to successfully verify results, you may apply directly to the University of Applied Sciences, citing possible mistakes made by ASSIST during the verification process. The University will then decide itself on your eligibility to study.
The application deadline at our university is July 15th only for Winter Term. This deadline is met if your application and a complete set of documents reach ASSIST in time.
In order to be able to eventually clarify open questions within the application deadlines we recommend that you send in your application before May 15th.
Please note that in order to take courses in Design, Architecture and Town Planning, as well as Restoration and Culture Management at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, additional aptitude tests must be passed. Special deadlines apply for these and the ›precise dates can be found on our website.
For these courses, it is necessary to apply to the University’s Department of Study Administration, paying careful consideration to the deadlines for aptitude tests given. (It is not necessary to use an official application form for this procedure.).
You can submit your previous educational qualifications to ASSIST either before, during or after participation in these aptitude tests.
